Once you have finished your initial teacher training and find yourself in a school, you hit the ground running fast! This course aims to build on your knowledge and show you how to make rapid and significant further improvement. During the day, you will have the opportunity to discuss behaviour management strategies that will work for you and discover the various ways of handling more demanding pupils. The day will be very practical and hands-on and you will be able to try out lesson ideas for yourself and discuss ways of tailoring them specifically to your classes. This course is a must for any English teachers near the start of their teaching adventure!

Aims of the course are to:

  • Demonstrate a range of tried and tested behaviour management strategies
  • Provide a bank of highly effective lesson ideas
  • Show how to offer challenge and support to pupils of differing needs
  • Heighten delegates’ awareness of current issues in education

Pamela John
Pamela John has over 17 years' teaching experience, including the role of Head of English in a comprehensive school. Pamela is an enthusiastic practitioner and national Educational Trainer who is keen to share ideas and strategies in order to maximise students' learning experiences. She has produced many resources for students and teachers, including some for an educational website. Pamela, who holds a Master's degree in Education, still teaches Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. As well as being an Examiner for GCSE English, she is a Consultative Moderator for GCSE Speaking and Listening in England and Wales.
