There will be opportunities to explore and share resources and activities, identify best practice in teaching and learning, ensure rapid progression and develop confidence in working with very able students. Information will be provided about the qualifications structure, educational and career pathways for very able students.

Gerry taught in inner city and suburban comprehensive schools for 22 years, including 18 as head of department in two schools. Gerry has worked as a local authority consultant and, most recently, as the West Midlands Regional Adviser for Mathematics with the National Strategies. In this last capacity Gerry has developed teaching and learning materials (including schemes of work and lesson plans as part of a national team), designed CPD materials and events for teachers and consultants, as well as leading very well-received consultant and subject leader training.
Gerry’s quality as a trainer is acknowledged through formal evaluations and informal verbal feedback. In his role as a maths regional adviser Gerry has supported teachers and consultants to improve teaching and learning by working alongside teachers in classrooms and offering workable solutions in challenging circumstances.
