The DfES guidance document, Safeguarding Children in Education, requires whole-school child protection training every three years.
This course provides information on how education settings can fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities. It explores the subject of child protection and its importance for all staff – providing both a clear understanding of child protection procedures and how best to respond to the specific child protection concerns of individual pupils. Delegates will be provided with a CD and other training resources to enable them to deliver training in their own organisation.
The aims of the course are to:
• give information about the legal framework which underpins child protection responsibilities
• explore values and attitudes in relation to child abuse
• give information about the four categories of abuse and how to recognise common indicators of abuse
• know what to do if there are concerns about a child
• provide delegates with the knowledge and tools to deliver basic child protection information to staff in their own organisation
