All EAL students have an entitlement to a level of support in line with their ability and linguistic level. Students who have long experience of learning in the UK can still have their attainment affected by the fact that English is not their first language. This is often overlooked and therefore not addressed because many of these pupils seem able to converse freely with their peers.
It is essential that the momentum is maintained for these students who are now considered 'more advanced' EAL learners.
This one day course will offer delegates practical strategies to prepare more advanced EAL students for success through key stage 3 and ultimately at GCSE. In addition, although this course is based around the needs of Advanced EAL learners, delegates will be able to take home resources which reflect latest thinking in the whole field of EAL.
Please note that the term "Advanced EAL learners" does not refer to students studying "A" levels.
