The 2009 changes to the music GCSE include the introduction of controlled assessment, adaptations to the marking guidelines and streamlining of the area of study requirements. This course will take you step by step through the entire GCSE process, with ideas for structuring, preparing students for the controlled assessment, and tips on linking themes across Performance, Composition and Listening.
The emphasis is on retaining the 'music' skills and on how to focus GCSE sessions to increase engagement in practical activity whilst meeting examination requirements. Delegates will leave with an increased understanding of the revised specification and a 'toolkit' of techniques and resources to boost attainment, motivation and musicality within their own schemes.
