This course, aimed at secondary teachers, addresses the new Ofsted framework and the National Strategies agenda of ensuring that gifted students should achieve their potential. Delegates will explore and discuss the underlying reasons why vulnerable groups of students do not make good progress, including new arrivals, gifted EAL students and those with dual or multiple exceptionalities.
The course will provide practical approaches to personalisation through exploration of data, student voice and lesson planning through which delegates will become skilled in applying strategies to engage and to challenge gifted learners. The course will include examples of successful classroom strategies based on the Classroom Quality Standards (CQS) and will suggest approaches to mentoring and monitoring gifted students in order to maximise progress.
