The emphasis on process in the assessment of Art and Design means that the sketchbook is a key way of recording ideas and processes. A sketchbook also encourages reflection and personal growth which is very important in the current educational climate which recognises the need for students to deal with their emotional well being in learning.

This course will review the role of the sketchpad, look at examples from all key stages, and move into the 21st century by considering how digital portfolios and sketchbooks can be used alongside more traditional formats.
