This course prepares delegates for the demanding role of running a successful music department. The status of music within the curriculum and the importance of a thriving extra curricular provision will be explored. Delegates will also be able to reflect on their own particular departmental challenges and look at how to move their department forward. Management of staff, instrumental teachers and departmental resources will form a key part of the discussions.

The course will also examine realistic curriculum and assessment frameworks and approaches for developing new material. The importance of an inspiring KS3 curriculum and analysis of specification options at GCSE and A Level will also be discussed.
