The course will give delegates a clear picture of the current state of knowledge of dyslexia and of other learning difficulties that can cause similar problems. This will include consideration of Sir James Rose's Report on Dyslexia and its implications for teachers.
The course will deal in detail with particular problems caused by English spelling, and will describe and demonstrate teaching techniques that make an immediate and lasting impact on problems with reading, spelling and organising written work. This will include guidance on sentence construction (grammar), paragraphing and constructing answers to questions, personal organisation and study skills. The course will take account of the circumstances of each participating school and college - please pay particular attention to the short preparation task.
