Raising learner aspirations, providing careers/progression related information, advice and guidance are important features of both the Evaluation Schedule for Schools and the Common Inspection Framework 2009. Meanwhile, effective use of a range of assessment methods can increase learner engagement, contribute to improved success rates, develop wider skills (including employment related skills) and reduce learner and teacher/lecturer workloads, without compromising quality assurance. Tracking systems can also be used to identify early intervention points, thereby supporting the use of an impact-focused approach.
Evidencing impact is an underpinning theme in both the Evaluation Schedule for Schools and the Common Inspection Framework 2009. Practical strategies will be explored to raise learner aspirations, evidence impact of early interventions and reduce learner and teacher/lecturer workloads, which should contribute to preparing the Business Studies Department for a successful inspection.
