The Brain Gym movements are now used in many schools across the world to help learning and concentration and for the development of specific functional skills needed for literacy, numeracy and other skills. A key to the optimal implementation of such a movement programme is to understand what lies behind each of the movements.
Many children on the SEN register will be delayed in terms of their sensory and motor development and this may be missed when focussing on academic skills. Many of the Brain Gym movements act almost as a diagnostic as well as a remediation tool.
This course will explain the background to developmental movement programmes and the range of possible uses. The day will explain what to look out for and how to use specific types of movement to help with development.
