Auditory Processing Disorder & Developing Listening Skills

Participants will gain an understanding about how normal listening skills develop and how to enable children to become better listeners. How easy is it for pupils to listen effectively in the average school classroom and when does 'normal' become disordered? Participants will understand the definitions of APD, the pathways to diagnosis and what can be done to enable pupils with confirmed or suspected APD to reach their academic potential. Time will be spent looking at APD and its co-morbidity with other learning and behavioural difficulties Extensive advice about the interventions and programmes available for helping to improve auditory processing skills will be given.
