As teachers of English we have always been aware of the power of assessment for developing learning. Inevitably, perhaps, conflicting pressures can distract us from this knowledge. However, recent national initiatives from both OfSTED and the Government have emphasised the need to involve and challenge 'all learners' in order that they may reach their full potential.
Assessment for Learning is a crucial strategy in the drive to achieve 'personalised learning' and a sense of achievement for everybody - teachers as well as pupils. This course aims to meet the needs of English teachers keen to reflect upon their own best practice and that of others.
